Definition: cross, baptismal |
---|
Cross with eight points, symbolizing regeneration. |
The baptismal cross has eight points. It is formed by combining the Greek cross with the Greek letter chi (X), the first letter of "Christ" in Greek.
In Christianity, the number eight symbolizes regeneration, so this cross is associated with baptism. It is not a very commonly-used symbol, however.
