The Satanic Bible

What is the Satanic Bible?

The Satanic Bible

The primary text in modern-day Satanism is called the The Satanic Bible, written by Anton LaVey (Avon Books, 1969, 272 p.). This text has been the subject of much speculation and mystery to people who have only heard of it, but have never seen it or read it. It is still published today and can be found in stores that sell new and used books.

The Satanic Bible is a collection of rituals, essays, and philosophical teachings of The Church of Satan. Early editions of The Satanic Bible included numerous dedications to people such as Friedrich Nietzsche, P.T. Barnum, Mark Twain, Howard Hughes, Marilyn Monroe, George Orwell, H.G. Wells, and Harry Houdini.

Modern-day versions have a dedication page that reads: "To Diane" and also contain a 10-page introduction by Peter H. Gilmore, the current high priest of The Church of Satan.
